In 2017, United States goods and services trade was estimated to be $283.6 billion. Japan is currently the U.S.'s 4th largest trading good partner.

U.S.-Japan Trade Negotiations

On September 26, 2018, the leaders of Japan and America announced the prospect of a U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement. Currently, it is in negotiations. Negotiations were intended to begin on October 16, 2018, following the completion of necessary domestic procedures.

This Agreement, if enacted, would be an important step towards achieving fairer, more balanced trade.
